This port can only receive ships up to 199,273 DWT when ensuring appropriate conditions regarding existing navigational channels, natural conditions, operating conditions and other related contents to ensure connection safety. structure, maritime safety, maritime security, fire and explosion prevention and environmental pollution prevention.

The investor is responsible for investment efficiency and responsibility during the process of receiving ships into the port if an incident occurs, and does not require the Ministry of Transport to invest or upgrade public maritime infrastructure in the area. .

Ships with a tonnage of more than 166,000 DWT or more are often on the Sentosa - Shikra route with a loading and unloading capacity of about 2,500 to more than 3,000 containers/route.

"On this same route, the ships that call the most often have a tonnage of 166,000 DWT, not all routes run large ships. This depends on the exploitation of the shipping line's ship lineup," Mr. Vu said.

Previously, during the test phase of welcoming ships of up to 199,273 DWT, the port safely received incoming and outgoing cargo ships such as the MSC Amsterdam FV250A ship with a tonnage of 185,552 DWT (length 399m, width 54m), MSC Genova FV 309E has a tonnage of 166,891 DWT (length 366m, width 51.3m), MSC Teresa FV317E has a tonnage of 166,101 DWT (length 366m, width 51.3m), MSC Darlene (length 366m, width 51m) with a gross tonnage of 175,897 tons.

Currently, the Sentosa - Shikra service route operated by MSC shipping line has the route Port Klang - Singapore - Laem Chabang - Vung Tau - Busan - Los Angeles - Oakland - Busan - Qingdao - Shanghai - Ningbo - Shekou - Singapore - Colombo - Mundra – Karachi – Nhava Sheva – Colombo – Port Klang.
