VIETNAM MARINE TRADE : Ba Ria Vung Tau - Thi Vai LNG Port prepares to welcome the first LNG ship of 2024

Nearly 70,000 tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be delivered at Thi Vai LNG Terminal on April 12-13, to serve industrial production needs, contributing to ensuring national energy security. when Vietnam enters the dry season in 2024.

Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS) has issued international bidding documents and received the attention of many reputable LNG suppliers in the world. PV GAS's LNG purchasing process has been designed, reported to competent authorities and implemented in compliance with legal regulations.

Through the process of evaluating the offering documents, QatarEnergy LNG was selected as the supplier of the shipment.

On March 11, 2024, PV GAS signed a contract to import the first LNG ship of 2024 with producer QatarEnergy LNG.

QatarEnergy LNG belongs to Qatar National Energy Corporation (QatarEnergy) - the world's largest LNG producer, with a total output of 77 million tons of LNG/year, accounting for about 1/5 of global output.

As we all know, PV GAS's Thi Vai LNG Terminal with a capacity of 1 million tons/year was put into trial operation from April 2023 and received the first LNG shipment in July 2023 to serve trial runs, as well as industrial production. This is the first and only LNG terminal to be put into operation in Vietnam to date.

PV GAS is also proud to be the only unit with the right to export and import LNG in Vietnam according to the certificate of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The shipment from QatarEnergy LNG in early April 2024 will be a timely fuel source when Vietnam's energy demand is starting to enter its peak period in the early summer of 2024.
